What is the difference between CIAM and IAM?

Customer identity and access management (CIAM) is for managing your IT services’ external consumer identities. In contrast, workforce identity (IAM) is concerned with those internal to your organization.

What is the difference between Authentication and Authorization?

Authentication is the process of verifying that someone or something is who or what it claims to be. It usually involves a user providing a username and password, which are then checked against a database of authorized users.

Authorization, on the other hand, is the process of determining what actions a user is allowed to perform. Once a user is authenticated, the system must then check whether that user is authorized to perform a specific action, such as accessing a certain file or making a change to a database.

In short, authentication is about establishing identity, while authorization is about granting access to resources based on that identity.
